Away In a Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little children lay down their sweet heads.

The stars in the sky looked down where they lay,
The little children asleep in the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the babies awake,
But our little children no crying they make.

We love thee, O children, look down from the sky
And sleep in thy cradles til morning is nigh.

Be near us, O children, I ask thee to stay
Close by us forever. We love thee, I pray.

Bless all the dear children in our tender care,
as we make Earth a heaven to live with them here.
