>Alexandra Godfrey, Bachelor of Science (BS), Physical Therapist (PT) and certified Physician’s Assistant (PA-C), publishes frequently in medical journals and has served on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She has been awarded the Eleventh Annual Section of Medical Humanities Award for Best Publication of 2017 from the American College of Emergency Physicians. She currently writes a blog for the New England Journal of Medicine.

I work with Godfrey on both narrative nonfiction and short fiction, including a profile of the doctor who helped save her son’s life, “Mending Broken Hearts.” Godfrey and I worked together to design and polish her profile of Dr. Ross Ungerleider, an expert in heart defects who ranks in the top 1% of his specialty and has been for twelve years one of America’s best doctors. We continue to work together on further essays about her ER experiences as a Physician’s Assistant and narrative nonfiction about her personal life.

Godfrey says:

“I find the way you structure and reorganize material fascinating. And you have an amazing talent for finding the currents that flow through a piece and tapping into them, seeing the strengths and flaws in writing, and making it powerful and beautiful.”
