Bringing you the party from Nathan Bransford's blog

How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live.
—Thoreau

So I’m having a wild time over on Nathan Bransford’s blog, where my post “Everything You Need to Know About Writing a Novel, in 1,000 Words” went up yesterday.

People have been absolutely fantastic—total strangers coming out of the woodwork to say wonderful things. What a rush! Thank you to all of you. You guys have been amazing. And, need I say, insightful.

And thank you to Nathan, too, of course, for sharing your vast audience with us guest posters.

Sitting on the edge of my chair, I am anticipating your exciting upcoming topics. I will refrain from calling you my new writing guru, but if the shoe fits…<–had to sneak one…in for you.

Your website, Victoria, has been added to my quick-favorites. You are just one click away. It feels like swimming in an ocean of information, volumes upon volumes of how to write our books, and your concise, precise and friendly advice is a real life preserver. Thanks bunches.

I neglected to comment on Nathan’s blog how helpful I thought that article was, but I did link to it on mine.

Saying more with less in your writing is a challenge, but your thoughts are very helpful.

    Victoria,

Found your blog through Nathan’s. I just love what you’re doing here. I was having a hard time finding thing to help me with my WRITING, not just selling my work. I’m working on my upteenth novel, but the first I’ve been serious about. I want all the help I can get!

Great post over at Nathan’s. It wasn’t until I was reading this one, however, that I realized how much you sound like a teacher. I re-read your bio, and I don’t see any teaching mentioned.

No matter. I’ll be tuning into your blog regularly to read your no-frills advice on what constitutes good writing (Hint: no frills). I find your advice solid and your presentation engaging. So don’t give all the credit to Nathan. A few more years of writing helpful posts and I’m sure we all would’ve stumbled over here eventually.

    Nice to meet you.

You really do know what you’re talking about! I can’t wait for the new posts. 🙂

    Thanks for asking, Marie!

I’ve taught kids. My father taught for awhile when I was growing up. Everyone in my vast extended family is a talker, hellbent-for-leather on teaching everything they think about everything to each other (if everyone else would be QUIET for a minute).

Mostly, I just really love working in fiction, and the more I teach what I know about it, the snazzier the manuscripts I get to edit.

Writtenwyrdd, LindsRay, and Lady Glamis—I want to thank you folks, too, for taking the time to comment. I DID see your comments on Nathan’s site as well as here and really appreciated them!
