Last month we talked about the wonders of being writers—how this craft gives us the tools to break through to the other side of reality, to soar on handmade wings, to create everything we could ever have longed to create in this life.

So this week let’s talk a little about the dark side of where we are as writers at this moment in history. . .because we all know we are not alone in our search for work as writers. There are thousands of us out here, at all stages of maturity in our apprenticeships, with goals for our writing all over the spectrum.

And fairly often I am asked, “What kind of people fail as writers? What kind of people succeed?”
